Travelling from the UK to perform at a destination wedding in France always requires careful planning, especially when it comes to equipment and technical production. When we were booked to play a wedding near Bordeaux, we decided early on that transporting full backline and sound equipment was not practical. Instead, we worked with a local production company to supply backline, sound, and lighting for the event.
It turned out to be one of the smoothest international performances we’ve done.
Clear Communication Before the Event
From the initial enquiry, communication was straightforward and professional. We discussed our technical requirements in detail, including backline preferences, monitoring needs, and stage layout. Everything was confirmed in advance, and any questions were handled quickly and clearly.
This level of preparation removed a lot of the usual uncertainty that comes with playing abroad. By the time we travelled, we knew exactly what would be waiting for us at the venue.
Backline Ready on Arrival
When we arrived at the wedding venue near Bordeaux, all backline was already set up and ready for soundcheck. The equipment matched what had been agreed beforehand and was in excellent condition. Drums, amps, microphones, and monitoring were all professional-grade and well maintained.
Not having to travel with heavy gear or worry about last-minute replacements made a huge difference, especially after flying in from the UK.
Efficient Soundcheck and Solid Live Sound
Soundcheck was efficient and relaxed. The engineer understood what we needed and worked quickly to balance the mix for both the room and the outdoor space. Monitor mixes were clear and responsive, which made performing comfortable and confident.
During the performance, the sound remained consistent and powerful without being overpowering. Vocals sat well in the mix, and the overall balance translated perfectly to the dance floor.
Lighting That Suited a Wedding Setting
The lighting setup was well judged for a wedding environment. It added energy during the evening set while still fitting the venue and the overall feel of the day. Transitions were smooth, and the lighting complemented the performance rather than distracting from it.
It was clear the team had experience working at weddings and understood the difference between a concert-style setup and a celebration like this.
A Stress-Free Destination Wedding Performance
One of the biggest benefits of using a local production team was peace of mind. The crew were punctual, organised, and easy to work with. They coordinated with the venue and wedding planner without needing input from us, which allowed us to focus entirely on the performance.
Everything ran on time, and any small adjustments during the evening were handled quickly and professionally.
Would We Recommend Them?
Absolutely. For any UK band or international musician performing at a wedding in France, especially in the Bordeaux region, having reliable local backline and production support makes a huge difference. We would not hesitate to use the same team again and would confidently recommend them to other bands playing destination weddings.
